We love sapphires for their versatility, durability (they have a Mohs Hardness rating of 9) and because they come in myriad colors and color combinations. In fact, sapphires are “allochromatic” meaning they come in every color of the rainbow (red ones are called Rubies)! Our Tanzanian Umba Valley sapphires often have a unique characteristic called “epigenetic staining” or orange inclusions that are a direct result of the glorious iron-rich earth they can be found in. It’s like a “birthmark” they carry and we think it makes them even more special.

Teal sapphires have exploded in popularity in the past few years, for good reason: they are wonderful gems that combine the timelessness of blue sapphire with the uniqueness of green sapphire. Affectionately called “mermaid sapphires” by some, these stones evoke calming ocean lagoons and adventurous escapes.
