Wonderful Ginger garnets are actually a combination of pyrope, spessartine, and almandine all in one. These gorgeous gems don’t have the tendency to get dark like some other wine colored garnets. Their color ranges from cinnamon and reddish orange to yellow-orange and peach. At first, the miners who found them cast them aside because they didn’t think they were worth anything; how times have changed! Now, these are some of our favorite gems; their warmth and brilliance truly makes them “pop!”
Garnet is the birthstone for the month of January.
When you shop with ANZA Gems, you're making a difference and giving back to East African mining communities. ANZA supports artisans at every level, beginning with purchasing directly in-country in Tanzania and Kenya, then using US and Kenyan artisanal cutters–a number of them women–to facet the gems into one-of-a by-kind creations. At least 10% of your purchase will directly benefit education, vocational training, community development and other initiatives supporting miners where they need it most through the nonprofit Gem Legacy.
